Neck Pain Treatment

Neck pain is an extremely common problem that affects many people during the course of their life. The neck is a structure that is very flexible and quite delicate and therefore prone to problems. Sometimes the pain may extend to the shoulders and down the arms through to the fingers, in particular when a nerve has been irritated or trapped. Neck pain is also commonly associated with headaches.

The possible causes of neck pain are varied and include poor posture, being seated while working at a computer, sleeping in an awkward position, muscular sprain and strain and ‘wear and tear’ that results in a reduced range of movement.

An Osteopath will be able to assess the symptoms and formulate a treatment plan for the neck pain that will include a range of appropriate osteopathic techniques such as massage, mobilisation and manipulation to correct any structural issues that are contributing to the pain.
